Greetings from the Principal

Imagine Schools at West Gilbert was founded in August 2001 and we are beginning our eighth exciting year. We offer a challenging and enriching curriculum that brings out the best in each student. Our teachers guide students to develop, perform, and produce across subject areas in ways that lead to a lifelong love of learning. We believe that every child can learn if given the opportunity and if surrounded by highly qualified teachers who use creative and effective methods to instruct and inspire.

Our Core Program puts a high priority on reading, mathematics, science and social studies by allowing extra time for instruction: 120 minute blocks for reading and language arts, 90 minute blocks for math and 75 minute blocks for science and social studies. This helps your child master the key skills he or she will need to succeed.

Pre-kindergarten at West Gilbert offers a stimulating learning experience. Your child’s learning abilities will be combined with a fun and exciting curriculum. Our early childhood programs are designed to develop the intellectual; physical and emotional; and social skills of three- and four-year-old children.

All of our teachers are fully certified and share our vision of nurturing the whole child. We have a rigorous recruitment and selection process that ensures only the most qualified and enthusiastic staff.

Wherever you have Internet access, you can use our on-line tools for an anywhere/anytime update on your child’s academic progress. This keeps you up to date on his or her development.

We offer before and after school care, as well as a variety of enrichment programs, You can be confident knowing that while your child is at our before and after school program, they’re safe while they’re having fun.

Imagine Schools Standards-Based Curriculum

At Imagine Schools, we have developed a curriculum that guides teachers and students toward the high level of learning expected in today’s world. This process is used every time lessons and assessments are planned. It describes the curriculum and, along with the Imagine Schools School Design Model, sets the parameters for teaching and learning in an effective classroom. The curriculum represents the best thinking of education professionals, as well as the input of business and community members as to the needs of students in a global society.

The curriculum is characterized by challenging academic standards that lead to high achievement for all students. Standards are clearly articulated at each grade level, building upon a solid content base in each academic subject. Students expand prior knowledge through a spiraled thematic curriculum, focusing on inquiry and project-based applications of key concepts and universal ideas. Instructional practices vary, ensuring that teachers meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles.

The curriculum provides students and teachers with world class learning opportunities, with a focus on the following:

· Learner centered results

· Authentic and challenging materials and activities

· Critical thinking and creative problem solving

· Technology as a learning tool

· A hands-on, minds-on approach to learning

· Personal and global perspectives

· Reflection and exchange of ideas
